Ondine: ‘I feel happy & in control of my body for the first time’
Ondine joined OurPath to get healthier so she could be more confident and a good role model to her two daughters.
She lost a stone on the programme and has kept it off for the last 6 months, but more importantly feels refreshed, rejuvenated and more in tune with with her body and mind.
Why did you join OurPath?
‘I signed up to OurPath because I was tired of starting something that I then didn’t fully believe in. I would then always discontinue, going back to my usual way of eating and negative thinking.’
Why was OurPath different?
‘This programme is different in so many ways – from the group feel even though it’s online, to the forums where we talk to each other and get sound advice from our mentor Linnaea (who’s awesome!), to the articles that we are given to read.
I was especially impressed with how holistic its approach is. It’s not just looking at our food and nutrition, it’s looking at our exercise routines & our daily steps, at how we think about ourselves and eating, at changing our distorted thinking and incorporating more positive messages into our body & brain, at adding mindfulness and meditation to our day…’
What was your biggest takeaway?
‘The programme has made me rethink a lot of assumptions about food and exercise, and also about how I have sat with negative feelings of no control, no will power and hopelessness for too long.
Instead of beating myself up about it I feel free of those issues, which is a relief and has made room for more fun and joy in my life.
The recent addition of mindfulness and meditation to my daily routine has probably made the most improvements to my spiritual self, which has a knock-on effect to how I behave and how confident I am (inside and out). I can’t wait to see where I am in a year from now!’
How do you feel now?
‘I can honestly say I feel fitter, happier and healthier than I have ever before. I still have weight I would like to lose, but I don’t feel stressed or upset about it.
Even on days where I may have put on a pound or two or not lost anything, I feel okay because I know I’ve made lifestyle changes, not just for 1 or 2 weeks.
I have lost a stone in weight and inches off my body, but more importantly, I feel in control and happy about my body and nutrition for probably the first time in my adult life.
